FAQs

1. How does the VeloZuri bike rental work?

You whatsapp/message or email us with your request (number of bikes needed, date & your height), we agree on a pick-up time. During the pickup you sign a simple rental form, bring a copy of your ID, settle the rental fee and then you’re ready to go. The bike is returned to the same location as pickup.

2. Do you provide helmets?

Yes we rent helmets as well in various sizes S,M,L for 10chf per day.

3. What is included in the rental?

  1. Bike with/out Helmet (on request and subject to a rental fee)

  2. Lock

  3. Short instructions & trip recommendation

4. Do I need to sign a rental agreement?

Yes, but we keep it simple, our goal is your enjoyment and not admin overwhelm. All renters sign a one-page rental form confirming responsibility for the bike and understanding of the terms during the rental period.

5. What happens if the bike gets damaged?

The renter is responsible for any damage that occurs during the rental, including:

  • Tyres (e.g. punctures, damaged tyre walls)

  • Brakes, gears, chain

  • Lights and reflectors

  • Frame, saddle, or other parts

  • Accessories (e.g. lock, basket)

If repairs are needed during your ride, the costs are paid by the renter. For major damage, please contact us as soon as possible.

6. What if the bike is completely damaged or lost?

In case of total damage, destruction, or loss of the bike, the renter must compensate the full purchase value of the bike.

For residents in Switzerland, such damage is often covered by personal liability insurance (Privathaftpflicht), depending on the individual policy. We recommend checking your coverage.

7. Do you offer insurance?

No, VeloZuri does not provide its own insurance.

  • You ride at your own risk.

  • Personal injuries or damage to third parties are not covered by VeloZuri.

  • Damage to the bike may be covered through your personal liability insurance, if included in your policy.

8. Do I need to wear a helmet?

We strongly recommend wearing a helmet for your safety, especially in city traffic and on unfamiliar routes. Wearing a bicycle helmet reduces the risk of serious head and brain injuries by around 60–85%.

Helmet laws are the same across all cantons. There are no differences between Zurich, Lucerne, and surrounding areas—helmet use is recommended but not legally obligatory for regular bicycles.

9. Can I rent a bike for more than one day?

Yes, multi-day rentals are encouraged. There’s plenty more to discover when you can travel a bit outside of the city.

10. What payment methods do you accept?

We currently accept the following payment methods:

  • Cash

  • PayPal

  • Stripe (credit/debit card payments)
